Imam an-Nawawi (1233–1277 CE) was an Islamic scholar of the Shafi'i school resided in Damascus . Despite a short life, he wrote many influential works on Islamic jurisprudence, Hadith, and spirituality. His famous works, Riyad as-Salihin and Al-Arba'in an-Nawawiyyah, are foundational texts still studied today.
